Good afternoon to all! ?
My SRS light came on. Question, is the srs light only for seat belt and airbag faults?? Is there anything else tied into the srs system? Got rid of one light on dash by fixing the problem and now just acquired another one! ? lol
Any input on srs light faults would be appreciated!

It's not a light fault, it's an SRS fault.

The only way that light might come on that is NOT an SRS fault would be if there were some kind of curious short where another light was supposed to be on, and I can't imagine how that could happen.

Plugging in a proper diagnostic tool is the best way to proceed as that will point you to the component that is causing the error, then you know what to fix.

And proceed I would, because once the system is in fault mode as indicated by the malfunction light, it is non-operational. In other words, in the event of an accident, it's going to be like you're in a car with no airbags.

Thank you check codes. I will 've taking to a shop who can read SRS faults. I hear ya. No airbags is no bueno.

Been doing anything with your battery ?

Does the SRS light go out after a minute or two ?

No it does not go off and Yes, I disconnect my battery every time I work on my car. I also switched out driver seat belt and was fine for about 2 weeks, then I did a hydraulic and brake fluid flush. Connected battery, started car to complete hydraulic flush and SRS light came on. ? lol. Just got rid of one light. now just acquired another. LOL

If the battery goes to a low state of charge, it will (usually) set the SRS lamp on. This has happened to both of my cars over the years after not driving them for a month or so.

A STAR diagnostics is required to reset the SRS warning lamp.

I think pre 07 1993 you can use the blink code reader - after 07 1993 they changed the SRS to digital which = STAR diagnostics is required to reset the SRS warning lamp
