I think I'll just order a new motor and regulator then slowly move toward that direction by practicing on the junkyard spare when it comes to cage extraction.

I was being ridiculously stubborn with my old one. I just wanted to see how far along I could get with it. Bosch never had it in mind that anyone would refurbish that blower motor.

You made a wise choice.

Regarding the voltage regulator, is there a preferred brand, besides OEM of course?

Bosch, and nothing else. Forget Meyle and all other Chinese and Indian garbage stuffed into German made cardboard boxes.

And for the love of your W124, no URO trash.

Because of accessibility issues, I wouldn't stray from OE.

Bosch it is then. Hopefully Bosch doesn't farm it's part manufacturing to Craponese outlets.

Pelican offers 1 yr warranty

OEM

KAE

AutoHausAZ has KAE blower motor but no OEM. (Warranty for three years)

FCP Euro has lifetime replacement on their parts, and they have Bosch, Meyle, and Mercedes blower motors.

Real 1 no problems i get a vision in my head what the tool looks like ,just a cranked piece of 1/4 round bar with a crank in it then the fork welded on to fit over the shaft to drift off the cage. .. Not doing the job as yet,, but its good to know about these tools .

When the weather gets better, I'll pull out both my MB tool boxes/parts and look proper.

Apparently, Bosch has different levels and they're not obvious about it....even deceitful. For example the 124 dist caps they make. No one here yet has offered an explanation difference between the Spanish made cap @$50 versus the dealer cap @$300. Someone said maybe the coating? Who knows........but, I had carbon tracking failure on one of the cheaper Spanish made caps I have.

Even the dealer caps are made in Spain. It's kinda like fast food, a burger is a burger but it's all about the secret sauce.

Interesting.....the Spanish caps are a dead ringer for the OE....I've had them side by side. Must be the 'secret sauce'....lol.

Looks like FCP Euro has no OEM parts for this project but their lifetime alignment would be a consideration.
