Well, I have finally run into someone that has done it. A guy on cl had a picture of some wheels on a w126 and was asking for money or trade for the wheels and I sent him a note. We agreed I should buy his wheels, and I asked if they are off the car and ready to go. He said yes, and told me he put maxima wheels on his w126, and sent me a picture which looks great in my opinion. I asked how he got them on, wobble bolts, adapters, etc. his answer was "just bolt them on. LOL!". So I proceeded to look them up. they are 5x114 and apparently they have a slightly smaller (but negligible?) centerbore of 66.1mm (instead of 66.5). Since we are talking about fractions of mm, I can see how these would fit, and possible quite well. The worry with 5x114 wheels is that the bolts riding on the inner/axle side of the bolt hole and not all tightening evenly, especially if the wheel is not centered, which is nearly a sure-shot if you don't have the correct bore. However, with 66.1 just being a more snug fit to the 66.5 hub (more likely with either the 66.1 being bigger or the 66.5 hub being smaller). If the wheel fits over the hub with such a snug fit to the bore, that would reduce the risk of the 5x114 bolt pattern causing major problems.

So there you have it. There are 5x114 wheels that others have managed to fit to an mb without adapters or wobble bolts.

I will see if I can get the ok to post the picture I received of the w126.

As soon as I post this I am erasing it from my hard drive and hopefully my memory.
Anyone have some eye bleach?

I have a Maxima that I use as my DD. Have 2 sets of wheels too. Maybe I should see how they look on my 107. I would only do it for Rowdie though. :D

Same centerbore? That is an important factor

Honestly, I did not care for them so did not pay too much attention. I can't believe how much these wheels are going for. I sold two sets of BBS RA's for around $300 / set a couple of years ago. A couple of sets of Ronal R9 for about the same along with a few sets Lorinser wheels.

I guess I missed the memo.

Well, I guess I didn't get that great of a deal on the rA wheels then, but still feel like I was smart to purchase them. It looks like the garage (and car) will be cleared of bbs rs and lorinser LO soon (except for maybe one spare of each style), even after all that debating about which to keep. So these ra wheels will be a nice spare set for the Fondmetal wheels
