I just got my brand new Airbox for my SLK 350.
Just for my personal curiosity I unmounted it.
Also because the gasoline consumption was too high, so I decide to make some experiment on it.
I found after detaching the Airbox a plug which I really can't understand what is there for.

Can anyone help me to understand what is there for and if this is responsible for my excessive gasoline consumption?

I tried to close later as experiment the air holes that are in the back of the airbox and seems for the moment that gasoline consumption is dropped.
Maybe the new airbox at low RPM do not allow air to pass the filter so it use more gasoline to let the engine run.
What do you think? Am I wrong?
