Hi Guys,

My ride is a 1992 SL500, My speedometer cluster just got spoiled, it gets shot circuit and lights up all over and goes bezerk all the time especially if I hit the signal lights.

I guess I have to buy a new set instrument cluster.

My question is this. I noticed that the SL600 comes with a speedo with the max reading of 300km/h. I mean it would look nice with the top speed reading of 300km/h. BUT, the question is , will it fit and work on my car.

Hope some body out there knows the answer.

Do a search for "dash flash", seems to be a common problem which can be fixed by changing the voltage regulator on the circuit board very cheaply, I recall Bob terry has covered this topic and even advised on the part to buy from radio shack

The 600 cluster would work....... Why don't get the Brabus cluster...... it read out 330km/h......

Hey SL Brabus, yeah, 330km/h showing on the dash will be awesome, but where do I find it?

And are u sure the SL600 - 300km/h dash would work? do you know where I can buy one or at least the part number of the whole instrument cluster?

Anyone out there know any of these answers? would appreciate your input.

If your car has the Bosch LH-Jetronic FI (on the 500 manufacturing started 09/1992) then it would work.

If your car has the older Bosch KE-Jetronic FI then it would also work but not 100% correct as your fuel consumption gauge would indicate double or half the actual true figure, cannot remember which way around. You might get around this by swapping the consumption gauge component from your original cluster to your new one. Not 100% sure so don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure it would work after this swap.

Around 1998 the cluster design went from 4 connector to 2 connector and CANBUS was added and these clusters won't fit your car. So don't bother with them. But some individual components may be swappable.

The German eBay is by far the best source. You don't even want to ask the dealer, trust me.

Does it? I've seen some later years with a 300 or 320 but I believe the majority are 260 - unless I'm mistaken..? AMG cars (Genuine AMG with AMG engine) usually have a 300 or 320 speedo I believe. There are some individuals where just the speedo plate has been changed but then the speed indication is WAYYY off of course... Also a German shop is offering a conversion, search eBay..
