Hi,

i recently purchased a speed camera detector. It is a snooper s4 neo.
I was wondering if it was possible to mount it near the rear view mirror and power it from the light?

Does anyone have any diagrams on how to dismanntle the dashboard as i may need to connect a power line to the 12v socket and run it along the pillars.

Thanks

Jazz

When you wire it to the light, than you will have to remember to turn it on and off.
I have my detector plugged into cigarette lighter socket and works perfectly for me.
Than I am annoyed in Audi, where the power in the socket stays on and I have to remember about pulling the plug.

Since I live outside the gestapo state of the UK (we have our version of the gestapo here) what is a speed camera detector? Is it like our radar detector only these tell you where the cameras live? Since the cameras are stationary it should be a pretty simple device and need not be too powerful - do you also have radar, lasers, vascar and all the other assorted speed measuring stuff they throw at us here?

I never leave home without my X8500 Escort - saved me loads of tickets especially on the motorcycles - use that with the wireless infra red eye piece - works great - gotta stay ahead of the law -

Speed cameras are, or at least were common in Canada. Since the radar is on all the time, unlike red light cameras, you can detect them in advance.
My Valentine one detects radars from a mile.

What an interesting coincidence. I live in Phoenix Arizona where the speed cameras are popping up faster than weeds. After a lot of research, I ordered a Cheetah C100 from these guys.

The ValentineOne is going back into the car today. Between the two that should take care of the real hazards on the Loop 101.

Again, I'm at a bit of a loss as to definition - I use an Escort X8500 on both my car and on my motorcycle with an infra red transmitter (for the bike only) and it works great for radar, vascar, laser etc - however, tell me please what speed camera radar is - and equally important does a traditional radar detector pick this up?

We have red light cameras in WA State but never have heard of speed camera detectors - I surely hope this is not something we're going to need to deal with in the future -

The fixed-location speed cameras deployed here do not use radar. Piezoelectric sensors are buried in the roadway and the system does a time-speed-distance calculation to determine your speed. If it is over the limit the camera takes your picture.

Some radar detectors like the Passport 9500ix also contain a GPS receiver and database of speed camera locations. If you have a GPS unit like the Garmin Nuvi, you can buy a special 'Points of Interest' database from these guys and solve the problem that way.

me? My E-350 has nav, and I am sold on the ValentineOne. Therefore I wanted for a stand-alone solution to the speed camera problem.

Thanks for the explanation - in AZ do they then mail a ticket to you when your picture is taken? If the driver says "it's not me driving" then what? Hell that is gestaoi neasyre - I thought WA was bad - nothing compared to that at least not yet

Yes, they mail you the ticket - which is not considered legal process service (though few know that) They will then mail you a second time. Only a small percentage do they actually send a process server out on. If it's not you then you go to court and show them it's not you. (I've been through this very scenario where my son got a ticket in my car. Spent a few minutes with my lawyer learning the ins and outs. Very Interesting.

I always fight every ticket anyway but this is one I'd fight tooth and nail - that sucks - friggin police states were living in - I know they do this all over Europe and Canada but it sucks - all they want is more and more revenue, nothing to do with safety -
