Having spent the last few weeks looking at these things I have decided that having one stuck on the windscreen with a cable into the 12V outlet looks a bit naff.
Also there is a high chance someone will put a brick through a side window to nick it unless I remember to remove it every time I leave the car.

What I really want is something a bit more discrete wired into the car with the laser detector and gps receiver hidden away leaving just a display on / near the dash.

Has anyone done this what system did you use and did you fit it yourself or get it fitted for you?

I bought the Escort with laser shifters pretty much based on Julien's awesome feedback. I got it brand new off ebay for $600. It's still sat in it's box as I have struggled to find an installer up to my requirements here in texas. I may install it my slef this weekdend if the weather is nice.
