Hi everyone.

I have a 2011 B200 Turbo. Hit a pothole last night and had to have the spare donut tire installed. I have been in contact with the Mercedes dealership since I can't find the same tire anywhere else in stock (Continental Contiprocontact) and I will be going tomorrow to have it replaced. Expensive.

My question is, how many km can you go on the spare. I have looked through the owner's manual but it only states how fast you can go (80 km/hr).

Any ideas?

Thanks very much.

It's for emergency use only. The idea is to get you to a repair facility, not to keep driving past that. Myself, I've driven over 100 miles on a donut, but it wasn't any fun.

Thank you. I appreciate the replies.

I understand that the spare is for emergencies and should be changed as quickly as possible, hence mine is being replaced tomorrow morning. :) I was wondering more in the case of a flat where you are miles from anywhere.

Cheers and Happy Turkey Day!

I bought a spare wheel on eBay and ordered a spare matching tire to the current set of tires. it fits in the space that the donut fits but sticks up about a half to an inch higher. I will put some styrofoam or filler material to make it level to put the felt/carpet liner back in.
I just dont think it is right to have a donut in your vehicle. I want a full spare that I can continue my business day .

compact size spares sucks and I love the fact that our W210 has full size.
It is not just the fact that you can have flat miles from the city. It is also the fact that Mercedes is using high speed tires that are not always stocked. Years ago I had flat on ML coming back from Great Canyon to Las Vegas. Driving on gravel road I got 3" dia keyhole shaped hole right in the center of the thread. Not only lost 2 additional hr for slower driving to Vegas, but in whole City nobody had the HR rated tire on stock. Good thing I was planning to stay there 2 more days as this is what it took to get 2 new tires.
Could not imagine driving 550 miles home on the spare.

Well I finally got a flat last night.
up in the western Sierras of Northern California.
midnight, hit something on a country road and bent the rim, blew the tire, and gouged out a piece of rubber from the sidewall.
I could not remove the damaged wheel since the torque on the nuts was so tight.
local guy helped me change tire to my FULL SIZE spare that I bought months ago.
once he helped me put it on I drove home to the Bay area(san Jose).
I cannot imagine doing that on the donut.

I will replace the damaged tire with my Mercedes repair plan and restow the FULL SIZE spare in the trunk.

Donuts SUCK!!

Hmmm. As much as I would like a full size spare, I drive an S550 with staggered tires (bigger in back). Which would you put in the trunk?

I also have the larger rear tires on the E350
I bought a new front rim and tire.
I reasoned that it could be run on the rear position if necessary(fit)
and is safer than a donut.
