I am thinking to buy some spacers for my R129, I have looked in ebay but they didn't state that is for the front or rear wheel. Are they interchangable?

I am currently mounting a set of 17"x8 MB wheels from a 2007 E500. They looks good but the only problem is the offset, they are 38.

make sure they fit and watch for the fenders!
take pictures of the rims!
Also, use a tire/rim calculator to see how much space you got with and without spacers. Best of luck!

I am planning to use a 20mm spacer for the front and 25 or 30mm for the rear.
Right now those wheels are all 38 in offset. It should be near to the factory AMG sport package setting.

The clearance from strut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 4mm LESS
The outside edge of the wheel will RETRACT in towards the body by 4mm

This is what the offset calculator says, so it is debatable if you would neeed spacers, unless you just want to push the wheels out further. I'm not a lover of spacers, if you are not already commited to these wheels I would suggest looking at something bigger like a 18" x 81/2 they fill the wheel arch better and look the part. You may need to fit shorter studs instead of spacers so they don't foul the disc.

Thanks for your info. and suggestion. I don't like to put any extra stuff on my car as well but I got no choice because I had already purchased this set of wheels. I know that it should be ok for me to use 30mm spacer for my rear wheel(8" ET38) but I am not so sure it has enough clearance in the front if I use 20mm spacer for my front wheel (8" ET38). Cheers.
