I poke around on people's public profiles every once in a while, and it just amazes me how many "young" people have these cars. I thought I was the only 20-something that would have thought these "grandma" cars were cool. Now, of course I realize there are TONS of W123 owners out there that are retired, etc, and just aren't into the whole online forum thing. But out of the users of this forum...I was just wondering how old we are?

(stupid school, always making me think in terms of statistics)

The 81 240D that I've been putting endless hours into restoring was just too damn expensive for a 22 year old kid back in 1981 so I just watched and waited... and waited.... and waited..... and finally bought it in 1998 after it depreciated down to a level I was comfortable with. :) My 240D is a little over half as old as I.

Now, respect your elders you punks, or I'll smack ya wit a newspapa!

I was in 5th grade celebrating the 84' Olympics in Los Angeles listening to Duran Duran when my car rolled off the assembly line.

I'm 4 years younger than my 300D. When I came around, MB had stopped W123 production in January of that year. The last wagons rolled off the line in January 1986.

Senior citizen? LOL d;^) I do a 5K in 20 minutes.

I was 31 when I bought my (wife's) first W123, a brand new 1984 300TD. I just turned 54. (not quite a senior)

I couldn't have been more than a few months old when the 240D rolled off the assembly line. That's my youngest too :)

Everyone younger is better looking and everyone older has more money...!
source: Anon
BTW- the poll is graphically misleading as the indexing is not linear, no biggie though!

I tried to break it down into smaller groupings around the ages I suspected were most popular. ie in the 20-somethings, I wanted to see if they were upper 20s or lower 20s since there were likely more 20 year olds than 70 year olds. Since they only allow for 10 choices in a poll, that's the spread I went with.

When the results are in I'm post an excel spreadsheet with a more accurate graph (no, just kidding I won't):p

I know it wasn't meant as a criticism, I just thought I would explain:)

I'm the oldster of the group, and bought most of my cars from fanatical owners in their 70's and 80's! In 30 years, when you guys are my age and I'm in my 80's, I'll be bequeathing all my "children" to karugs, roncor, vlayton, cyberbach, gregscd, H-Town, boardmonger, etc etc etc...
