He's a custom coach builder located in Palm Springs CA...he's definitely as close to a mad scientist for cars as they come. He's built a Ferrari limo (1972 mondial I believe), three Cadillac Limousines in the late 80's, and an awesome Testarossa convertible kit based on a vette...ill include those pics also.... Someones full of it.
That car is an original Styling Garage conversion that has later lost its front spoiler and original wheels among other things.
Maybe, maybe not. That's what I'm trying to sort out. Just because it has gullwing doors -- very popular in the 80s -- doesn't necessarily mean it was a SG car.

I;m quite sure this is the exact car that first got me interested in w126 when it was for sale in 2003 at Gullwing Motors in NY. Pictured here:

This was, obviously, before the new white/red interior.

From eBay:
"Newly redesigned interior, completely restored"

Sadly I don't have any more pics handy.

Luke Iremember that tan interior car at gullwing motor cars!! I was interested in that car too as a kid! I think it's a different car though ? The tan interior car has headlight wipers , this one does not . I don't think they would remove those and do a complete interior color change ??

Would have to pull carfax on this one to see if it has an east coast history or is the same car. There was a white one with grey interior in the SF area too that sold about 5 years ago to Germany .

I got a hold of the eBay seller they currently want $29000. Which is laughable because no one bought this car when it was $18500 or $19500 over the past two years

Maybe pkaricl600 can clear it up since his uncle built it ?
He is in ny. Maybe his uncle in palm
Springs redid the interiors only ?

That's my guess... the upholstery, stereo, camera, etc. are all supposed to be new.

Everything that isn't supposed to be new (aside from the wheels; can't tell) is incidental between the two cars -- the kit, the missing spoiler, that very odd wing, the seats.

I think it's also been painted and the headlight washers have been shaved.

I know it may seem like like a stretch, but with so little of these built and so many unique things on each of these I think there is a good chance they are the same VIN.

Wow guys I just seen the pic of the other gullwing, but he's not a distant uncle he lived here in NY before moving to Palm Springs back in the early 90's. When he was out here as a kid he'd always have some crazy build going on in the garage. From what I know and spoke to him about, he did the conversion, he's definitely not an interior guy at all, straight old school body man from the old country!

Anyhow I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers I just figured I'd share with you guys

You're not ruffling feathers , we really want the info on this car, does your uncle still own it? Is he the one hiring these guys to market it for $18500 in one place and $29000 in another place ?

There are people here who really want to buy it , but these dealers/ car flippers are screwing up the sale and ensuring it never sells .

Also please let us know is it the same car as the one with the tan interior that was in NY in the 90s , and had its interior redone recently in white ?

No one is upset at all, we're just trying to get the whole story.

There was a very famous company in Germany in the early 80s that built Gullwing SECs called Styling Garage. To my knowledge they are the only ones that "mass produced" gullwings so most people will assumes your uncle's car is one.

(Although SGS subcontracted some of their builds and Trasco took over when they went bankrupt.)

Styling-Garage - Wille Karroseriebau

Styling-Garage - Mercedes W126 500SEC "500SGS Gullwing"
