Have a 2000 CLk 430, I usually read the post here and find my answers. But soft top still won't retract. Windows go down, all fuses are good. Both under hood and in the boot. Red light on switch lighs up and idicates good to go until I try it then it blinks "rapidly". According to the manual check the boot lid or luggage cover... well the trunk "boot" is closed the luggage cover is in place. But I dont see where the sensor is on the luggage cover to tell the computer it is closed. The trunk shitch is in place and works fine. Does anyone know where the luggage cover sensor is. Thanks guys...my wife is making me crazy with this..[?]

Lads,
I have this same problem. Exact same symptoms as mentioned above by Learjockey. (including the nagging wife!!)

I also cannot see why the softop is not going down either. I am assuming it is this little metal flap switch on the slider rail (that does make a clicking noise when engaged). I will put some metal contact spray on it this evening to see if this works.

Lads, one last thing. Another thing I noticed, on my car the rolling canopy rolls back on the underside on the roller at the back of the boot (versus the top side of the roller). The picture on the front of the panel (which tells you not to store luggage on the canopy) shows the canopy rolling on the top side of the roller. Can one of you just look inside your boot and confirm which way the canopy rolls when released as I'm not sure if this is affecting the roof mechanism either?

Thanks!!!

Lads,
Think I have solved it. The previous owner of my car states that to fix my roof, all you need to do is open the roof manually (using the handle, see instructions in car manual). Then when you have it half open, grease up all the moving joints. The previous owner of my car rarely put down his roof (we do live in Ireland!) and the joints can stiffen up to the point where the electric motor has the power to open them. This happened to him a few times and was resolved by greasing up the joints.

Will try this on the weekend (if it is dry!).

Hopefully this will keep the wife happy!
