How do you remove the soft top switch? Probably simple, but I do not want to ruin the wood on center console by doing it wrong. Red top snapped off. I have replacement.

Hi
You take out the wooden centre console slowly and remove the switch from the underside so as not to damage the veneer.
Depending on the year of your car the Radio and Aircon control units may require different tools to remove and some of the clips at the back vary - the video makes it look very easy - my console required a little coaxing - extra care when pulling it out and pressing it back in.
In case you don't know..There is a series of these videos very handy on Benzworld in the stickies I think....
This is for an older R129....
I have done this a few times so feel free to pick my limited brain - (I would know nothing but for the other forum members expertise and help)
Kind regards,
Darragh

like he said above. you must remove the wood!! there is no other way without risking damage. all the switches are like that. makes replacing bulbs a pain-in-the-ass.

Thanks for both comments and the video. Looks simple enough to do, but may need more time than originally thought.

I'll let you know how it all works out when I do it.

Thanks again.

I bought radio removal tools from Halfords and original merc ones - although the dimensions are identical and both sets worked - the merc ones worked better - shinier/smoother/a more reassuring click/and L and R on them. That's my tuppence.
