This morning I started a load of laundry without checking my pants pockets. My SLK350 SmartKey went through a complete wash cycle, and double rinse and then into the dryer for 20 minutes before my wife heard a clanking sound coming from the dryer. She investigated and found my SmartKey in the dryer.

She gave the key to me. I said, "I have been looking for that". She said, "well it should be clean".

I immediately went to the garage and tried all the functions, and they worked! That is one robust SmartKey, even though the IR top-up, top-down option has always been a pain.

I'll report further if the key fails in the near future.

I'd take the battery soon as possible with any thing like that and try to dry it with a hair dryer or similar. the worst killer of electrics ain't the water it's the electricity and the water that causes water egress. so it may work for a while but if there's any water in there it'll fail in time. Hope it's ok though. ;)
