I want to show you crank but no start issue on Smart fortwo 450 ! There are 4 reasons Smart fortwo 450 engine will never start:
- lack of compression
- crankshaft sensor
- fuel pump, injectors
- Gearbox not in Neutral (N) Before I fix the issue, I checked the diesel system and I had 300 bars while cranking, via scan tool Launch x431 Diagun . it’s a comon rail with 3 cylinders by the way. The only fault codes I had on my Launch scanning tool were related with EGR and the gearbox angle sensor! I’ve read a lot about that sensor on forums and many of you keep telling that the car will not start due to faulty angle sensor! But that is not a true, Smart fortwo 450 engine will start even though the sensor is disconnected!!! So my last option eas to replace the crankshaft sensor and the car finally started!!! Via torq 30 (T30) socket remove the bolt and gently pull it out! But to get to the sensor you have to remove quite a lot: - disconnect begative battery terminal - disconnect the ECU cables - disconnect the negative cables attached to the body - remove electrical fan - remove intercoller - remove the EGR valve (E12, E10 and E8 sockets)
