I've heard total opposing opinions regarding the ride and comfort level of the SLR for long distance drives, 6-8 hrs in a day for example, even owners seem to differ on this, anyone with experience or knowledge on this, your input would be very appreciated,,

My buddy has one and he seems to have no complaints about his car's ride and comfort. In fact he uses his car for long trips.

Press reviews of the SLR actually rated it as a "usable" and comfortable supercar in comparison to other cars in the same league.
