I'm thinking of selling my S2000 to get an SLK55. Big difference in insurance costs? I have a clean driving record, multi-car discount, homeowner's, full coverage, etc.

Difference between a leased car and a financed car?

Thanks in advance!

I can't give you info on the 55 but I went from a 2002 BMW Z3 Coupe to a 2005 SLK 350. My rate went from $345 to $377 fro six months.

Ask your insurance, they might be able to give you the most accurate info. The 55 is twice as expensive (at least over here). But my insurance has a special deal on MB's and Volvo's. I pay insurance on my car as if it was a 100,000chf car (even though it costs almost 120k). I could have an SL65, and still it would only be insured as a 100k car.

Not bad [:)]

When I got the quote on insurance, before I ordered my SLK 350, I was surprised that the insurance wasn't that much more than my Honda Prelude. My insurance agent said that Mercedes' aren't prone to being stolen and they don't fold up in minor impacts. When I got my car the actual insurance bill was "less" than they originally quoted.

While my insurance did not go up that much between cars I am always amazed at how much more insurance is in California. My insurance on the SLK is about $660 for 6 months and that includes Homeowners, multi-car and safe driver discount!

Up here in Bay Area, I paid Farmers $470 for 6 months with home owner and multi car.
My insurance agent tells me its an LA county - Malibu thing. Cars tend to be stolen more and have more accidents. If I moved into the Valley or Ventura County, it would be less.

I was quite surprised when I replaced my '01 TT Roadster with an SLK 350 and had the insurance go down $4/month!

3 tickets w/in the last year, no accidents, $440/6 months, multi-car discount, $500 deductible, in Chicago metro area.

I've actually had 8 speeding tickets in the last 3 years but strangely enough, it has not affected my insurance premium much. I have USAA.

Because Miami and LA tend to have more stolen cars and higher repair costs than other areas.

Where i live... I am paying 1500 for 6 months. Eeekk. I am wondering if i could get insurance from a diff state(2nd home) but the car is located elsewhere. This could cut the cost of of insurance by half. Is this legal ?

I guess if you live in a better neighbourhood, the rates goes way down.

I went from a BMW M3 (coupe) to a SLK55 (topless). The best premium so far is $950/year. Slightly cheaper than what I used to pay for the M3..... Why??? Multi-car (2) and home insurance discount. Over 40. Single. One speeding ticket recorded. Live in NW burb of Chicago.

My '55 is due to arrive in the next 2 weeks, and the annual premium will be $1350. This compares to $1020 for the '02 Volvo C70 Convertible it's replacing. New Jersey has one of the highest car insurance premiums in the U.S. These rates are no accidents, no tickets, $2000 deductible, multi-car and combo homeowners insurance discount, pleasure use only (not commuting), and the insurance company is New Jersey Manufacturers, easily the least expensive in the state....in order to get coverage from them your employer has to be a member, and their underwriting standards are very stringent.
