Hi all

I have just completed the purchase of a brand new SLK200K for my wife- great service and deal from Mercedes Oxford by the way. We opted for a number of options (Benotoite Blue metallic, alpaca grey leather, air scarf, 17" 10 spoke alloys, heated seats) but not COMAND (you've got to draw the line somewhere...) however it seems that an ipod input is only available if COMAND is fitted. Does anyone know of a way around this as £1900 for the COMAND and £300 for the ipod kit is a pretty expensive solution....

This tiny FM transmitter wirelessly sends the iPod music to your FM radio. Just tune both to an unused frequency (e.g., 88.3). It works very well on my SLK200.

Hi, is there an auxilliary 2.5mm jack in the glovebox. If so this will take an ipod. If not will do some research for you at work to see if there is away around it.

Thanks Tedmac. I don't know if there's an input jack or not as we haven't taken delivery of the car yet. The options manual was fairly explicit in saying the ipod integration kit could only be ordered if COMAND was also fitted, I guess I'm just hoping it's a mistake.....

Don't worry mate will let you know tomorrow. I have fitted ipod integration kits to c class and e class which have only audio 20 head units in them. the slk class(171) has an audio gateway separate from the head unit. will find out all the options for you tomorrow at work.

Nidge, there is a way to make your Audio 20 unit work with the integrated iPod kit. You may want to contact MBenzNL about it... he figured out how to modify this unit so that it can get the iPod kit connected.

The only case where the audio gateway is separate in the R171 is if you have COMAND installed. The Audio 20 has it integrated. See page 10 of http://www.billsden.org/mercedes/slk/docs/train_audio_comm.pdf

SLK 350 (2006) audio input?

did anybody come up with an IPod/mp3 player input to the SLK 350 without COMMAND other than Fm transmitter I have tried most of these and the sound quality is poor
