Yes, it was a normal SLR engine dropped into the SLK (which is nothing more than a supercharged 5.5L AMG engine with large intercoolers & cams.....he could have done the same thing for $35k with a Kleemann blower & it would have been the same result).
And no, the SLK is not much lighter, In fact its over 400 lbs HEAVIER (where do you get your data?)
Lastly, the Enzo has been tweaked to its maximum - there is no further room for more power. The SLR has significantly more torque than the Flat 12 in the Enzo so it handles its extra heft without an issue. Forced induction motors can always be modded more than normal aspirated powerplants. The Enzo got crushed. Period.
BTW, who cares what people think about "which car you pull up in". Its what you enjoy driving that matters.
