Can anyone enlighten me about the front wings of the SLK 55 ? I was informed that the pair of front wings is attached to the grill and is not part of the bumper unlike the slk 200 or slk 350. So are the pair of front wings has a double sided adhesive tape which is fixed to the grill or rather a mechanical gadget that keeps it to the front black grill.

Any advice is appreciated

I'm not sure I understand your question or can provide the info you seek, but here's my take:

The black plastic wing in the center of the front grill consists of a glossy black plastic piece that snaps onto/into the louvers of the matte-finished grill. This whole grill assembly is bolted to the body structure near the headlights and above the radiator. It may be clipped to the bumper -- can't tell for sure, but it is certainly in contact with the bumper and captured by the bumper. It looks to me that if the bumper is even minimally deformed inward, the grill structure will break.

Hope this helps.
