I have an slk 230 1999. As DIY guy, I changed the pilot transmission module because it was the source of transmission fluid leak. Then, came the problems: first, the gear shifting on Ist, 2nd and third gears got jerky. Second, check engine light came on. What could be the cause? Help pls...

I do not think you changed the module, I think you mean the transmission electrical socket yes?

You're right, it's the electrical connection socket not the module. Any idea why the check engine light came on. thanks..
I thought so, seen this quite a few times with a diy, looks like you may have damaged or bent one of the pins (electrical connector pins that fits through the socket, unplug it and use a torch with a mirror to check all your pins and do not drive the car until this has been checked.

I have had unplugged the socket and checked all the pins (13) were okay. I've been driving the car ever since I've made the replacement of the socket and everything seems fine except for the check engine light. The guy from Canadian tire said I must bring the car to dealer because the check engine light can be cleared only by an sds tool. Any advice?

Re read your first post, in this post you are contradicting yourself and saying all is fine except the cel.
