Hello,

I'm restoring a Mercedes W107 SLC 500, it has a problem with the wires and on the passenger side the cables have burned so I am looking for a complete wire harness for a SLC 500 or SLC 450 5.0 from 1979 - 1980 with automatic climate control (for the extra wires...).

Any help will be highly appreciated

Thanks

Seems to be a lot of people lately calling their 560SL's SL560's and 500SLC's SLC500's. What's down with all that?

It's about as correct as calling it a Benz-Mercedes.

Naming didn't change to letters first until early 90's.

Having gotten that off my chest though, welcome. Nice to have another 107026 owner on the board!

Firstly, there were three different main wiring harnesses that covered the 107026's (450SLC 5.0's and 500SLC's) depending on your VIN.

And depending on which harness is correct for your car, it was shared with 280SL/SLC, 350SL/SLC, 450SL/SLC for the earlier type (up to 107026 chassis number 1627) - with the 380SL/SLC and 500SL for the 2nd one (107026 1628-2357) and also for the later one (107026 from 2358-2769)

Hi Fotografa, thanks for your reply.

You have very good info, i didn't knew that shared the harness with other models, my vin is 10702612001718

How can you know by the vin number the other models that shared the same harness ?

Thanks in advance.

You need harness part number 107 540 80 05. Also used on all 280SLC's from chassis number 008366, all 280SL's from 007870, 380SLC's up to chassis 002037, 380SL's up to chassis 004218 and 500SL's up to chassis 000557.

Sorry, slight update to the part number for the harness to account for option 581 (ACC). chassis numbers are still the same fo all the different models, but it will need to be from a car that also had option 581.

Welcome to the 107 asylum. The 107.026 is under appreciated and under valued here in the U.S.

Please fill in your profile. Vehicle info. and approx. location. From what Foto has posted you can maybe find a complete 380 for less than the cost of a wiring harness.

Hi,
Fotografa, thanks a lot for the info, hope I can find something, with what you gave me it's easier to look and gives me more posibilities.

As about purchasing another car I prefer to keep looking at the moment as the only thing I need is the wire harness.

Thanks.
