I recently purchased a 1998 SL600 with 75k miles. At 3/4 throttle, the car accelerates reasonably well but at about 3500 rpm, it really takes off. I am wondering if the lag at lower rpm is normal?

Mine has all its power available from 660 RPM to redline with no discernible shift (shifts so smooth, seems like one gear).

Plenty of power for any given situation at any speed.

Thanks, I think I will start with a tune up and see what happens.
