so lets say you get a V6 motor and do the conversion for under $7000 (if you lucky) and you will save about 4MPG in the whole deal. How many miles at ($3.80 per gallon) you would have to drive to start saving money?
Some of the newer GM and maybe Chrysler vehicles with V8 engines will stop fuel and spark to 2 or 4 cylinders during cruising in order to save gas.
I do not know of any such option for any Mercedes vehicle, although I haven't looked much into it.
Food for thought though, Ford is getting tremendously better performance/mileage out of its EcoBoost turbocharged engines than any of the engines that shut cylinders down. A cylinder not generating power is robbing power.
