has any one in Southern California replaced the slk's atena with that one of the sl 500. and if so does it work.
I have been reading other post, and I am not sure it did not work for them because of thier location.
Thanks.

Can you post a pic?
yes i will try and get 1 up tonight let me go find my camera [:D]
I had my MB dealer replaced it.
It fits great and look professional.
The SL atena seems to built for SLK as well.
One problem I encountered so far is I can't get AM1320 but its ok, I can listen to my FM stations.

good luck
Did you preplace the bottom part to match the paint color?
I purchased the SL atena (top part) only from the MB dealer $76
part# 230-827-01-02-9762
I think this part# is good for North America
in diamond silver color.
You don't need to replace any bottom assembly.
Good luck
This brings new light to the age old discussion of the aerial, as we know call it across the pond!

Previously it has been reported both the ebay copy aerials and SL aerial do not work well with the SLK, with critisim of its FM reception and operable distance for the remote.

So the FM reciption identical?
and the remote does this vary?
is same aerial used for the mobile? if so are the mobiles fitted in MB in the US GSM (like your-rope), CDMA or both?

Why pose these questions... well if the US MB SL aerial costs just $76 that's a bargain for us in Euro-land, especially next to the Brabus alternative.

I wish I could be conclusive, but I still await my carrage and therefore encourage a UK SLK driver with GSM with assistance from a US forum member to purchase a $76 SL aerial!

I was told by my dealer that the SL aerial would not work on the SLK. The parts dept had a memo from Mercedes on it saying it couldn't be swapped. It seems as though they may be wrong.
Now to try and get an sl ariel. Any ides on the price from a dealer in the uk ?
replacing the bottom part for a compplete color match..

Don't waste your money. I tried a friends SL antenna on my SLK350. Fits perfectly, but reception goes to pot! Useless for UK cars IMHO
Why does the SL antenna not work on the SLK? It must work well on the SL, or? I would like to switch to the shorter SL version but only if it works like the original longer one that I have.

Radio reception is via the antenna built into the windshield. The SLK has no such ariel - they are all integrated into the one unit in the rear - hence its prominent length.

Thanks for that info, so there is not much option other that to stick with the large stock ariel.
The SL antenna proves Merc can do an elegant well designed aerial. They just havent bothered to apply this to the SLK. Shame.[V]
