I have a 2001 sl600 100K and noticed that I have an oil leak. It appears that the lower oil pan gasket is finally leaking. The upper gaskets could as well be too.
After pricing the upper and lower gaskets from MB, I would well spend over $100 US for just the two gaskets.

My question is: Does anyone know if using high temp black silicon would be a much better and less expensive repair?

I have used the Permatex in a tube before on Toyota's and has worked wonderfully. I used the stuff that similar like cheesewhiz out of a can.

Does anyone know if repairing those two gaskets are a straight forward job??
Do you have to move the engine or is it not to bad?

Thanks

Dave
