I am ready to change the oil pan(cracked and glued),

Should i change at the same time the Oil Pump Chain Guide/Rail,

How many miles does your car have? If its up for timing chain replacement, I'd do the oil chain too.

315,000 miles, on odometer,

did not get much information from PO,

PO did put a used engine,( i would take off 70,000 miles)

Timing chain has zero slake, compression in 500 psi +/- 40 psi,

Turbo in very good,

just an inch crack in the oil pan,

I don't know much about the diesel, but when we dropped the upper oil pan on the Gen I M117, the grate under the oil pump had an amazing amount of debris, plastic pieces etc.
We did all the rails for/with timing and oil pump chains and installed new snail gear (drives the distributor).
