Found a 1999 sl500 with 115k, have not seen in person yet...can you guys help me out with what to expect repairs wise with the milage the car has or anything else to expect repair wise in the distant future..or anything else specifically to look for. They are asking 10.5k..

IMO... To much at $10.5K for 115K miles... It would need to be in stunning psychical condition with all service records and no need for any repairs and all required maintenance done for that price.

Price??? Hard to say without looking at the car but I would think in the 8-9K range.

Maintenance: I would like to see information on recent fluid level checks, break fluid changes, oil changes, spark plug changes, brake pad checks or changes, V belt changes... anything that shows that the car was inspected and maintained.. receipts from the previous owner etc.. It might be a good idea to spend $200.00 to have the car gone over by a good independent shop to get their take on it. A few hundred up-front could save thousands down the road. Take a good look at the soft top cylinders for leaks... cycle the top 10 times or so. Run the A/C, make sure all the fan speeds work. Test drive the car under as many conditions as you can on your test drive/drives. Check the strut mounts for cracks... Dive into this forums search function to get info on all the major components and systems of the car... Good Luck

1. 3rd owner, has records, serviced at dealership only
2. soft top has about 2 seasons left on it
3. has 2 sets of AMG rims with new tires
4. has 8 grand stereo system
5. paint is showroom
6. has new bilsteen suspension
7. has acc module replaced
8. has alpine head unit with navigation
9. does not have sl1 or sl2 package
10. has 115k and valve guides and rails have not been replaced
11. has new rear seat with seat belts, not put in yet
12. has small dent by cowl due to dropping top when trying to put on

I bought mine about 3 months ago with 102K on it from the second owner for $10K. It was always serviced at the dealership, did not have AMG wheels (I added that for about $1000 with tires), not showroom paint, but nice...etc....
It all comes down to condition and what it's worth to you.
It looks nice in the picture, not a common color. Mileage is a little high, but if it's as nice and well maintained as advertised....
Just make sure everything works, like the A/C and the soft top. Check for leaks, raise it and lower it 3 times as fast as you can and look around!

That doesn't sound outrageous. I paid around 13 for my 99 SL1 last year, 85K miles, but it also came with the Panoramic hard-top. Look hard at the service records and make sure you budget a few grand to fix the inevitable things you will have to fix. I've put new engine and transmission mounts, spark plugs and had the top rail hyd cylinders redone. But I LOVE the car!! Sound like its in the ballpark if it looks OK in person. If the wheels are legit AMG's, that's definitely a bonus.

I have to see it to believe it first...however I spent just about 6 grand putting an ultimate system in a 560sl that I had...miss that car very much but it gave it's life to save mine as a truck rear ended it...so costs do add up especially for custom fab work. My sl with the top off sounded beyond words.

I love that color combo. It sounds like its been taken care of, I agree with others, just verify the condition with a check. If that all goes well, I would be all over it from the info you've given.

looks good in person..has some paint chips, few scratches and scuffs on front bumper. Front driver seat has wear and a split in the bolster I think you can see in the pic of the seat above.

I like the can but not at the asking price since the wear issues I will have to take care of.
