A few questions.
Should I buy a 2012 GL? The 2013 will be out end of this month but the dealers are offering big discounts on the 2012. My local dealer has a new 2012 GL 450 with sticker of $74k offering it for $58K.
I currently have a 2008 Mercedes R class which I love but it will be out of warranty next month. Debating weather to trade in the R class for a GL or buy the extend warranty and keep the R class. Anyone have any thoughts on the R vs the GL, which do you prefer? Also any thoughts on trading in for a 2012 GL vs keeping R or waiting and paying more for a 2013 GL?

Hi,

GL and R are quite different, if you are considering a GL obviously you tried it and liked it. I am very pleased with my 2012 GL, which is fully loaded (called Avantgarde in Canada) to get rid of parts soon to be obsolete (for instance the 21" AMG rims). And last but not least they offer very good deals on the 2012. I would still buy the 12 over the 13.

Thanks for the reply. I was told that you couldn't believe the posts from the forums. I was initially interested in the Q7, but a friend told me Mercedes was giving big discounts on 12's because of the redesigned 13's. I was willing to go up to 58K for a 12 that was windowed at 69.5 or so. Just out of curiousity, was that price with a trade-in?

You need to check your math..

Acually a decently equipped 2012 GL450 is MSRP $75K - and by decently I mean 3-zone clmate control and other value options.

It's a decently equipped GL450 that you want - so you can leverage the available discounts to your maximum advantage.

The 2013's are total knock out's - like the new 2013 GL450 is a hair faster than the 2012 GL550 - stuff like that - so the '12's need to be cleared out now.

At this moment if you offered a dealer $61.5K on a $69K GL450 that he had in stock - he would have written that deal up in 30 seconds.

What are you trying to accomplish on a GL450 that is on the lot right now ?

Frankly 2012 GL450's will be gone-gone-gone in like week maybe 10 days on the outside.

I have already delivered 2 '13's to customers earlier this week - the '12's have to go !

PM me if you want.. I check the forum in the evening latest
