I have a chance to buy a 240d manual trans w/ 215K miles for $1,300 to $1,500.

Are they really that slow?

The body looks good (minor rust spots) and the interior is mint. My major concern is the clutch. Is there anything else I should look out for?

Your opinion is appreciated!

With a manual, yes – very desirable. Slow is in the mind of the beholder. My 300 D is not “fast but I don’t care because it’s such an overall excellent car. I’m not going to win any boulevard drag races with it, one must do some planning merging into traffic, but it’s a joy to drive when you appreciate the build quality and the way it handles. The price sounds right, too. As I always say, have a mechanic check it out and if he’s OK with it then it’s a good buy.

IMHO, it depends on your particular driving needs. If you have a fairly long highway commute, this car will be an absolute Godsend, but if you're tooling through a lot of city traffic, it may wear you out some.
