I am planning on purchasing new shocks when I replace the springs.
Can I use G55 shocks on my G320?

I've heard that the G55 shocks are stiffer, especially when cornering.
Would the G55 shocks hinder me in any way off-road or while articulating?

Has anyone else tried this?

You can use them without a problem.

Better when cornering, off road can be uncomfortable, the comfort has to be adjusted via air pressure.
The G500 shocks are probably an alternative.

Is there any shocks that can be adjustable "on the fly" while still being reliable?

I've been considering going with stiffer springs (the Lilac ones - for lift). I'm just looking for the happy medium.

many g55 owners have switched to g500 shocks because the stock g55's are really harsh for their taste. If your running 16's with 35's at lower pressure, they might not be so bad. Do a search of the forum because there are some nice adjustable systems out there. Otherwise the g500 shocks are probably a nice safe bet.

The 2005 G55K ditched the special shocks and uses the G500 shocks instead. I don't think I would recommend the G55 shocks. Seems like most people swap them out.

The G55 Kompressor has own shocks.
These are "softer" than those from the G55, but stiffer than those from the G500.

I like the Bilstiens. I have switched a couple trucks from factory Sachs to the Bilstiens and like the small amount of addition firmness. They work just fine off road.

As far as adjustables...the problem seems to be the beefy mounting stud the factory versions use. Pretty much nobody makes shocks with identical mounting hardware. I think Q ran into this when sourcing aftermarket shocks. The long travel ones I bought from him for the 280 require a bit of a leap of faith because of the lighter duty mounting hardware. So far so good but....not perfect IMO.

What about the new Koni Raids would they be considered an option I am about to fit a set to my 300GD turbo intercooled SWB I have a 2" lift on "Lilac" springs and I have stiffend the anti roll.
The main attraction for me on these shocks is they have there own built in bump stops.

While changing tires the other day, i finally got a chance to clean my shocks and look at the maker. My '04 G500 has Bilsteins from factory...the shcoks has both Bilsteins and Mercedes symbols.

How do you like the feel with those lilac springs. Do you have any pictures with them on your truck? I too am interested in the additional lift and slightly more stiffness for cornering.
