Could anyone tell me, how to re-set the service indicater which comes up
while starting the car. It briefly disappeared after oil change. E320 1998.

Have you checked the owner's manual? I followed the procedure several times in mine and things didn't work initially.

So I shut the driver's door, buckled up, and set the parking brake and lo and behold it worked! So be sure you do those things if you are having problems resetting.
