I'm looking at buying an 2004 SLK350 but when you turn the key on this vehicle it says Service D exceeded by 736 days.

From reading the forum I have seen that this service is for 25000km but on the clock for this vehicle it says 6000km so how is this possible? Is the service interval based on elapsed time as well as Km's? Or is this a dodgy dealer with a manipulated odometer? The vehicle is in Hong Kong.

The service interval is based on a lot of things including time (I believe), km's driven and also how the car is driven. It is this last part which would lead me to guess a car with that low milage and needing service d has probably been tracked a lot.....guessing a bit here but I would be wary.
