Because you're using the best of oils maybe...??

The 2 of us had the same 25,000 km oil changes showing way back at the beginning ...until the dealer changed all of that on mine many years ago.

Hmm, a familiar poster..... and yet strangely cryptic. Please fill out your profile!!! :D

My car started off at 20K km and the dealer slipped it over to 15,000 km...I asked for it to be set back to 20,000 km, seeing as I change it myself halfway (10K).

The 25K km interval is totally new on my car, anyway.

Weird that some would now have a 25,000km interval. Any chance an update was made to the ECU firmware/software last time at the dealer that changed the good oil (229.5) service interval? Can't think of any other reason.

OK then....Only I was showing an ~25,000 oil change way back when. At that time the car was evaluating the oil for oil changes and when nearly 2 years was up the timer clicked in and the 30 day "Service" countdown started and asked me now go to the dealer for my first oil change called "Service B" in my case. Some others here had it called "Service A".

I had already changed it at 10,000 km and was approaching 25,000 km. By that time the dealer was resetting all B's to a year or 15,000 km settings between oil changes. For a long time now I've changed the oil at 10.

10k here too... rarely 15k
^ But you're referring to your own oil change frequency, correct? What's the service interval showing on yours? 15, 20 or 25k?

Also, I wonder if dealers are just setting the interval to 15k, whether or not they use the 229.5 oil, to see people a little sooner. :)

I told my dealer to reset it to 20K as per the service booklet way back in 2008 and they did (well, 19550 km to be exact). It seems that DEVOURS car was set to 25K at some point. Maybe because his dealer knew he'd never be seen again? ;)

My B was originally set to read the oil for it's change and then all B's were reset at the dealer to 15,000 km to avoid different cars coming in at different times depending on drivers habits and driving styles,..at least that's what the dealer told me way back when they changed the "formula". ..of time and clicks....

BTW...I've been back for all of the "recalls" and my sales rep and service supervisor are great guys and very helpful too, .....it's the actual tech 'one time' who was a crook and dipshit and wasted a lot of chargable time and my money. ...but he only got to do it once...:D

I think the 15,000km or 20,000km is just a basepoint for the service interval computer. Depending on the oil specified (229.3 - 15,000km, 229.5 - 20,000km) it'll use that service interval as a guide. Then, based on driving, it'll adjust the actual time/distance based on the basepoint.

At least that's how I understand it based on the o/m description and the service settings shown.

2011 Mercedes Benz B250 Turbo

Hi everyone. I just purchase the vehicle above and am having some problems with the vehicle. It has 60,000 Kil on it. I'm having some concerns with the transmission so I took it to my trustworthy mechanic. I of course not have a manual to reference. He reported the following vehicle codes:

Engine Codes 0055, 0056, 0057, 0058, 0059, 00E6, 0050, 00FB

Transmission Codes D409, D40A, D40B, D40C

Antilock Brake Codes 5C2E, 4A46

Gear Selection Module Codes P1861, P1860, P2000

Any ideas - your time is much appreciated. It is currently under warranty but of course that ends this week.
Diane.

I don't but what's your fault code? Unless very specific to a particular system, should be able to look it up online.

Hello everyone. The instrument panel on my B200 says needs Service D. I read the previous post but Service are in numerals not letters, so I need help if anyone had Service D done. If I could do it myself I'd do it . Thanks in advance.

Different locations will do specific servicings as to the distance showing on your B. The letters are not necessarily followed too closely..

How much mileage do you have showing ?..and check with the appropriate dealership as to what servicing has already been done..

What records do you have on this B ? ie: Are there any servicing stamps showing service in your maintenance booklet ? Check both sides..

A letter, different from "A" or "B" simply means there are additional items on the list, besides the standard service, for example on my car it shows next service as "C" - in this case it means service "A", plus engine air filter (service 8) and a brake fluid (service 4).

To determine what type of main service is due, see if the display shows one or two spanners (wrenches :wink) - one spanner is "A" service, two spanners is "B".

To get the exact list of additional items, you need to run your car details via ESS (Electronic Service Schedule) - here's the UK version:

Mercedes-Benz UK | Electronic Service Sheet

I don't see any major reason, why it shouldn't work for a Canadian car, at least this will give you an idea, of what is required.
Remember to convert km to miles :grin

Please note, the system obviously doesn't know, if certain services were performed already / recently, that's why, as DEVOURS said above, it is important to know previous service history. For example: I pulled my ESS just now, and it shows spark plugs (service 12) and transmission oil (service 20), but these were both done two years ago, so not due for another 2 and 3 years respectively.

My B back in 2008 "never ever" showed a service "A" in the dash. It went directly to service "B" as my first requested dealer visit....whereas other Canadian B's (here on this forum..) did indeed show service "A" in their dash..

It all depends on how your dealer resets your car..(in my experience..),.. so go by the distance traveled and the previous work done by the dealer...

You can't rely on the letters in the dash...There are different dealer settings in different locations in the different locals and countries....no matter what the "book" shows to be done..
