Yeah, I had some codes relating to secondary air injection. Turns out some ports were completely clogged. I ended up clearing them with a screwdriver, no codes!

IIRC, the pump only runs for 6 minutes when the car starts, meaning its unlikely to fail, because it doesnt run much.

You might need to put a bit more time into cleaning them than just a screwdriver. It seems a long run time 6 minutes but I could be wrong. Mine runs for about a 45 sec to a minute. Might have a lot to do with ambient temp with the run time.

Absolutely correct. If everything is working properly, 45 secs. is the maximum run time.

I believe that air pump also cycles while idling at stop light as well.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

The one I bought from EBay for $200 didn't work, ended up buying a genuine MB(Bosch) air pump for $425. No more P0410 code, passed smog, yeah!

i had continuous problems with throwing secondary air injection error codes, I ended up removing the two valves on either head and cleaning out the passageway with brake cleaner, penetrating oil, and manifold cleaner; then blowing them out with an air compressor. I had it throw a code a couple hundred miles ago, which I cleared, and may need to redo the procedure. The actual correct fix calls for removing the heads and hot tanking them, I will stick to my solvents. :devil
