My wife is looking at buying a new car and has driven a few Cayman variants and a Z4. I suggested she also consider the new SLK however she could not drive it because the seatbelt cuts into her neck due to the high plastic seatbelt guide that appears to be a new feature for the 2012. I should mention she is 5'1" with a short torso. Is anyone else having problems with it? From photos I've seen, previous models used a strap to hold the belt high and the strap could be unsnapped to allow the belt to be beside the seat.

The salesman agreed it would be a problem and offered to see if the guide could be removed and still meet safety regulations. After a week I haven't heard anything back though. I can't believe this hasn't come up before. Don't people let their children sit in the passenger seat? I don't think a typical 12 year old would want to sit on a booster seat but that's about the only way the belt would be in the right place.
