This morning I put my door cards back on and I plugged in both the drivers and passengers side seat switches. I also plugged in the mirror adjustment switch in the center console, along with the two window switches. My wood is currently off getting refinished, but I still wanted to take the car out for the day.

What I noticed and this is true for both the drivers and passengers door, when the door is open I have power to the seat switch's and the mirror switch, when the door closes or I push in the plunger they lose power. Before I took the door panels off they worked with the doors closed. Other then unplug the switches to get the door panel off I have not done anything else.

What am I missing here?

My climate control head unit is also currently removed, just my radio is plugged in. Would that have anything to do with it?

That's the same with my car, unless the key is in the ignition or car is running with the doors closed the seats don't work.

I guess it's how it should be, unless you are really sure you never had the keys in the ignition before and it worked then. It's understandable that it would work like that. You wouldn't want to be parked (roof down) and have random people move your seats back and forwards and up and down.

I am aware that Mercedes typically powers the seat switch’s when the door is open and the ignition is off. I’m talking about the ignition being on.

The outside mirror switch seems to be tied to it as well is their a relay that is responsible for both functions?

Sometimes we have lapses. I know I have. Are you sure the key is in position 2 when the doors are closed?

The power windows also function this way. Are they working with the doors open? And with the doors closed and key in position 2?

We’ll that was easy! I plugged in the seat heater switch’s and they were completely dead. So I started poking around the fuse panel figuring a fuse must have popped and sure enough fuse 13 was blown. It must control all this along with the radio. Replaced it now everything works again.

Last weekend I was cutting out some hacks into the radio wiring harness from the previous owner. I might have blown it then!
