Seat Belt Retractor ~

I believe that there is some kind of obstruction with the passenger side seat belt retractor. Belt locks up for no reason. To unlock it, passenger has to remove it, let it roll up and re-buckle it. Does anyone have any info of how to remedy, or a how to open side pillar to check retractor. (2001 E320)
