the seat back locks on to the striker in the upright position/ on the striker there should be a plastic bushing around it , generally these are either worn out or missing after years of service.

the armrest also has a bushing , this can be accessed by removing the cap on the armrest, sliding off the armrest and replacing bushing/ both of these parts are the same as on american version SL's and are available from your dealer/ (rather cheap too)

armrest adjustment?

I know this thread is pretty stale, but thought I'd exhume it instead of starting anew.
Does anyone kow if the armrest is supposed to be linked to the seat back such that reclining the seat means having the armrest shift up into a non-horizontal state? It's rather annoying. It would be great if it would remain horizontal regardless of seat back position. Are they all like this?

Mine is just like that. If I lean the seat forward, the armrest goes down. If I recline the seat back, it goes up. The mechanism required to do anything else would be very complicated.
