Hi Guys.

1998 SLK R170 - Auto.

Just had my oil, transmission fluid, spark plugs changed yesterday.
Then check engine came on right after.
Diagnosed with code P0805 Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction.

Tried clearing it. Didn't work. It came right back on as soon as car was re-started.

Car only has 46,000 miles.

Now my car is sitting at the shop. Any inputs?

Thanks in Advance

Any performance issues?

.....does the Supercharger seem to be cutting in and working as usual?

P0805 is an MB Specific Code for Supercharger Function

Good Luck

Thank you for your reply.
Haven't driven the car around, because I wasn't sure if it was harmful to do so.
What do I do in order to narraw down the problem?

Might be as simple as a lead accidently disconnected or not reconnected during the service.......check the electrical connection to the Air Bypass Valve first

.....a general inspection of the Supercharger/Intercooler induction plumbing would be next

.....if everything appears ok, then check S/C cuts in at ~2000 rpm (stationary in neutral)

Cheers

yeh ive had that same code before..... it is the supercharger clutch and/or the electronics which control the clutch.

you can get someone to rev the car to about 2000rpm in N and you will see the clutch engage.

you can still drive the car no problems but you wont have the power. if the supercharger bypass was d/c or something that throws a diff code (from memory its p0803?).

Please give us a bit more info......

....what did you find?

...what have you tried?

....did you do something that then enabled you to clear the code?

There were no new findings.
Car was taken to an European automotive specialist to clear the code.
Car was taken there by my mechanic. From what I was told, the car drives normal, i have yet to drive the car.

Usually this problem will throw a 105 and or 410 code, but I also had 805 occur with it too:

Your problem is that the secondary air injection line is split near the oil filter cap. It's a tiny clear line that runs to the front of the engine block (under the front manifold cover). It was likely broken when they changed the oil (the line gets brittle with age and heat). Look for a small, clear line running just above the oil filter cap - it is usually hidden behind a bigger wire that runs along the same course. You can replace it with line from most any auto shop (I paid like $5 for a pack of line at Autozone).

There is a good thread with this problem detailed and pictures: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r170-slk-class/1364929-oil-change-triggered-check-engine-light.html?highlight=p0410+oil+change
