scuttlebutt on US MB Sprinter 4WD

With the takeover by MB in the US, does anyone know of the future availability of 4WD versions, and the low range 4WD option that I have learned of while living in Italy. What does the future hold? can I buy a US spec sprinter short wheel base 4WD like offered to Europeans?
Modern diesels seem to be here at last!
Anyone want to buy my Unimog U1300L?
