Halfway through a switch to the heavier steering option on a 1700. (Wow does it ever help having a pit and an overhead crane!) Can't put my hands on part numbers with a decent drawing as the plumbing is slightly different between LS3 and LS7. I have had the parts kicking around for a while so they don't look familiar and am wondering if anyone has a decent picture with associated part numbers. I have the maintenance book pic but of course no part #'s. I am hoping to use original reservoir. Lower steering shaft boot looks to have a different engagement to the top of the steering box. The LS3 had a nylon disc that fit over the splines and the boot wrapped around this. Anyone out there worked this switch that can illuminate me on the fiddly bits? Thanks

Thanks Trev; do you have the corresponding drawing that shows what goes where? (similar to that pic I posted of the piping)
The 'Heavy Duty'...LS7 develops more steering effort (if that is the right term) according to the specs in the maintenance book. I always seem to have a lot of weight on the front end so I think this should be what the doctor ordered. It is quite a bit bigger in the steering box portion. The pump looks almost identical in size at first glance. I haven't taken the old pump off to compare but they are not much bigger than a fist. The pics I have taken so far are too sh**ty to post...I'll see if I can make a better job of that for those that are curious.

No, I have all the sectional views ect from the repair manual but no overall hookup diagram.

apparently there was an LS3, LS6, and LS7

There's a LOT of documentation, some talk of flow limiting valves ect ect...

LS7 requires different pitman arm ( splines are larger)

Does anyone have one of these larger spline pitman arms around?
I believe the part# to be A4254630501

I am tying up a shop bay so time is definitely an issue.
Thanks
