Just wonder how common are these ?
I got them in my truck but I just remember reading a thread a while ago about rust building inside the doors.Apparently not every square cab has them.
This stuff provides pretty good door ventilation plus keeps the top step free of ice and snow in the winter time.

I was looking at this a few hours ago. My doors do not have them and I am wondering how they work ? Do these doors have means to channel air from the cabin through them ?

The pressure built up by your cab ventilation pushes those flaps inside the door,
allowing the (warm) air flow through the door and then down the holes on the bottom of the door.
It's like a drapes on the window attached at the top.
There are two elliptical holes on the bottom of the door, not sure if you have them.

Isn't it just to make closing your doors easier by releasing air pressure when you close the door? Kinda like rolling the window down an inch or two makes it easier to close the door?

That also makes sense - with my new seals, the pressure is certanly there upon closing.

Two for the price of one ?

Look at pre 1994 Dodge pick up trucks.
The most impressive body part were the doors. The way they were vented was a simple idea. Keep the inner dry with proper located drain holes. The vents were open and covered with a screen.

If it can breathe, it will last.

The design and placement suggests they're essentially one-way valves to allow water to escape the vehicle's interior through the cutouts on the bottom of the door while simultaneously preventing exterior water from entering the cab. The flaps are a tad large for simple air flow and not present on any other vehicle I've ever driven, military or civilian.

I think it may have been a change made when they went to the OM366A, along with cab clearance lights on the sides and top corners. My 1987 ex-BW 1300L has the vents with the larger oval openings in the bottom of the door that Yarr speaks of. I noticed the older normally aspirated 1300L, beside mine when I bought it, had no vents a small drain holes on the door bottoms.

I'm with Burgy - I think the later trucks have them, the earlier ones do not. 1988 Green DOKA : Nope. 1996 White (Grey) DOKA : YEP.
No Fording kits.
A very small sampling, and with how Unimogs vary.....speculative might be generous.

I'd guess more to let water out than air flow, but Yarr could be right - I have never looked down while driving to see if the heater flow is bending the flaps into the door.
