Does anybody know(off the top of their head) What size the mahoosive nut is on the front of the crank that runs through the damper/pulley mech?

I need to go shopping for a decent spanner to fit.

I believe it's 42mm.

I had the engine on a stand, and it took an 8 foot cheater bar with me sitting on the end, heating up the nut with a torch, and beating on it with a 5 lb sledge hammer to loosen it up. It was fun.

Thanks Aaron,I'm not looking to remove it fortunately, just use it to turn the engine when I do my valve clearances!

speaking of valve adjustments....how often does one find valves way out of adjustment on the om352? ive only done mine once and they were nearly spot on.

Ah ok. FYI, I've found it a lot easier to manually turn over the engine from the drive shaft between the engine and trans (if the cab is tipped up) than from the front. There's a lot more room to work back there I think, plus you don't need the mongo size socket or huge pipe wrench or whatever.

You can remove the nut using a pneumatic 3/4" wrench. The trick is using the right diameter air hose so you can supply enough air to the wrench.
