Martin, your post above has reinforced an idea I've had for the last year or so, i. e. find a couple of M113 V8 engines paired with 722.6 transmissions, to learn how to work on them. I don't yet know transmissions, but several threads of yours, and few other people's, have given us a lot of information. Plus, I've got WIS and a lot of documentation on the 722.6, thanks to people on this and other forums.

My first engine rebuild, though, will be a 1990's-era Honda Civic's D15B7 4-cylinder engine (non-VTEC). Got the fiance's garage to work on this in--very handy. Then I will try a 1.6L VTEC engine (D16Z6) that I have around. Also got both a spare manual and a spare automatic transmission to do this to. Gotta crawl before you walk.

Hi all- Good news! - My 2006 E350 Base 4door 147K miles - had a few issues all covered by warranty and it is A SALVAGED Title! :) Fuel pump went out and the warranty makes them replace the gas tank and both the fuel pump and sending unit ( warranty is for 150k or 15 years ) Also the SBC had issues when they scanned it and they fully updated the system! Best was this was warranty issues so it cost me $0.00 Dollars :))
