My wife and I decided to buy our 06 E320 CDI after the lease, the price was quite attractive. At 52000mi, the car is just off warranty, and needs to have the 52000 service D completed. Under warranty, we had the dealer do everything, but I will now do my own wrenching on the car. (been wrenching on my own cars and motorcycles for a looong time)

I have everything ordered to do all of the required service items but for the brake fluid flush, and my question is this:

If I do the SBC flush myself, and the pump takes a dump in the future, will MB still honor the 10 yr warranty?

Procedure states: "Only approved changing/bleeder units may be used otherwise SBC system malfunctions can occur."

STAR DIAGNOSIS (a computer) is used to run the process.

OK. I called the dealer, and the system was last flushed 7/08, so I'm off the hook for a while, anyway. Dealer charges $140 for the flush as a stand-alone service. It may be worth the $140 every two years to preserve the pump warranty.

SBC warranty extended “to” 10 years, see attached for an explanation of SBC wake-up, brake fluid replaced every two years – see attached service sheet.

Some how I thought this might work to bleed the sbc system.

Works on most European cars, including Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, Fiat, Mercedes, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, SAAB, Volkswagen, Volvo, and all other cars with 45mm threaded hydraulic fluid reservoir caps (Adapter 1100). All bleeders come with a full 1 year warranty.

The brake flush is as easy as can be. I use a SpeediBleed pressure based bleeding system. Works like a charm. No need to use Star Diagnostics System. With a pressure based system procedure is exactly like a conventional system. There is a procedure to deactivate the SBC without the Star Diagnostic that you should use prior to doing any brakework. Some guys just unplug the SBC unit but it causes error messages. If you use the procedure everything works perfectly.

How do you attach the pressure bleeder ? To the master cylinder where the cap is?

Yes.

-Suction out all the old fluid from the reservoir, a miti-vac with a tip extension will insure you extract all the fluid in the reservoir. The last thing you want is to mix old fluid with new, or worse push suspended dirt in the reservoir down into the SBC shuttle valves.
-Refill the reservoir to the 3/4 level
-Fill the bleeder with 1.0-1.5 Liters of DOT 4+ fluid
-Screw on the pressure bleeder.
-Pressurize the system to 15-20psi
-Connect a bleed hose and loosen each bleed screw at each wheel until clear fluid flows out, then continue to flow for another 30 seconds (give or take). Do this for all 4 wheels.
-Slowly release the pressure and remove the pressure bleeder.
-Fill the reservoir to the "Full" level and recap...job complete

Only use DOT4+ approved fluid in the SBC systems.

This is the system I build for flushing the brakes on my older MB. See no reason why it shouldn't work on W211? Build with brake reservoir cap from BMW (that come with hole for the sensor) and spare tire tubing from older VW that was pressurizing windshield washer.
Worked like a charm, although somebody indicated that ABS system holds some fluid in closed chamber under high pressure and that fluid can't be released without Star computer. But most consider replacing 70% of fluid every 2 years satisfactory.
BTW the reservoir holds several times more fluid, than the system itself, so one fill up last for full flush with some to spare.

Can't take all the credit. Got the idea from British members, where the sets using tire pressure are commonly sold. Can't figure out why in US they use garden sprayers for making much more EXPENSIVE device.
My creativity was getting the parts on junk yard for $2 entry fee.
