It was nice sunny day here and i decided to detail my car but it turned into something else when I spotted rust at the bottom of my driver side door..
I went to dealer bought paint touch up kit then sand paper and rust reformer from autozone.

First I pulled off rubber strip under the door and got shocked to see that it was filled with dirt and water..Thanks to snow and rain in midwest..

After cleaning the strip and door i used sand paper until i see the shiny metal part under the rust.

I then applied the rust reformer to protect from future rust.

After rust reformer driep up I used touch up paint let it dry for half hour and then top of that I applied the clear paint coat came in a kit.

I hope this will work but now I will keep an eye for future damage..

This is quite common on W220. I had mine on all four arches, rear boot and rear driver side door. All was fixed by MB dealer under MB 8 year's corrosion warranty with me bearing 20% of the cost. I think you need to get this fixed before it gets too bad. This rusts from the inside and would literally eat your panel - i had two front wings as it was so deep.

I've had exactly the same problem with door bottoms. As I know, this problem is typical not only for MB and is caused by some technological issues - the paint does not stick well enough in these places because of excessions of anticorrosive compositions.

Anyways, I've had my door bottoms proffessionaly painted last fall - no rust spots since then, despite severe Russian winter (lots of salt and moisture on roads).

I was one month out of the campaign when I noticed the rust and MB said "too bad, so sad". Loyalty is two way street. Now I go to an indie for everything and only go to the dealer for free car washes. I was quoted $3,000 by the dealer for repaint to get rid of rust.

I just also looke dover my car and see a spec of rust about a feet behind the passenger rear door. I also just checked the production date for the car and it said july 2000. But on the title it's a 2001. My questions are would MB still take care of my rust under the good faith policy ( i think thats what its called) and why is mines a 2001 even though it was produced in 2000?

Glad you guys found out at earlier stage. Go talk to them and see what they say but if its not big I think you might be able to take care of it by yourself. That area under the doors is very prone to rust, does not matter even if dealership fixed the problem, you have to keep it checking for future damages..

Thank you for your hard work posting this famous defect with W220.... rust
Two questions buddy:

What is the MB product you attached its picture and what is its model number?

How to remove door rubber trim and how to install new one?

Many Thanks!
