It is with much sadness that i have to report the passing away of Randy, who posted here on these forums under the handle of R171.

He passed away on 22 January 2005, aged 57 years young.

(Info taken from Torsten Forums)

He was one of the very first R171 owners.
An American Living in Germany, he was always very quick to help, esp. translating German for us.

I'm sure I speak for all when I say his presence on this board will be sadly missed.

My condolences to his family if they are reading this.

I think he posted as RR171 rather than R171. His last posting on this forum was 1/13/05 re "cornering lights being illegal?" which was only nine days before his death. Do we know if he was involved in an accident?

Will really miss him[:(]

How sad- Randy was always so friendly and willing to help others on this board. When I enquired about buying something from overseas, he made enquiries/phone calls for me, a total stranger.

Our thoughts are with his family. I know everyone here will miss him greatly.

Bummer. Do we know the cause of his death? I remember him being a smart poster, giving advice and help.

A loss for the community. At least he was able to experience the car of his name (R171) before ha passed away.

Rest in Piece ol' fella.

I cant help but wonder about how he went.
Sounds like a sudden death, so my guess is a heart attack.
Being a car enthusiast it could have been a major blow out in the R171, but he would have had to have either really pushed it to the limit and beyond or had a head on collision..thoughts of James Dean come to mind...

Although I did not know him personally, I got the impression through his posts that he was a great guy and he was really helpful and informative.

I was shocked to hear of his death and my prayers go out to his family and friends.
