Wow, sorry to see that happen. Are you ok at least? What car are you going to get next?
Wife and I are very sore but OK, the safety equipment did its job well. . . I left my previous career and am in law school now, so whatever car is next will be cheap...I am about 6'8 so need something big, probably a grand marquis or something that can be had on the cheap...Just put new shocks, brakes, refinished wheels on it two weeks ago so I would be good to go until out of school...

Sorry to hear that Hillbilly Delux but I'm sure glad you and the wife are O.K. Good luck on finding the replacement vehicle.

Ouch.

Really sorry to see that. Law school? Don't you now have a huge PI case against the monster ford truck?

Good luck on all counts. Glad no one was seriously hurt.

Sorry to see - glad you are ok. Accidents - we were hit in May, Pathfinder was totaled -- after looking all over, we settled on the W210 we have now...

.. In that process I was looking at Crown Vics - they have a gas tank issue around 2001 - there was a fix for it.. Nice big boats and I hear easy to work on.

Back when I owned my business the cars we provided for the salesmen and myself were a mixture of Crown Vic, G Marq, and Town Cars depending on what I could find when we needed another one added to the fleet. They are bullet proof, through the company I owned about 10 over the years. They are pretty loose at 200K and that was the milage where we got rid of them, but only had 1 out of the ten had any significant repairs, which was about $600 for an intake manifold that failed. The rest were zero repair - minimum maintenance cars gas-oil change - tires type stuff - thats what i need at this stage of the game. . . soon enough I will be able to buy a new E and move on, for now means to an end...

Yet another reason to own a Mercedes.. As far as I am concerned, the headaches, high cost of supreme and overpriced parts are worth it in occasions such as these.
Just remember, it's just a car. The price of a car will never amount to the price of a life. Even if it is your whacked out ex-wife.....

Condolences

Tragic. Some jerk in a junkyard will begin ripping this thing to pieces. That butcher will most likely be a little extra rough to "get back" at something shoved way down... deep in his subconscious. Anyway... I digress... Sad loss. I have heard nothing but great things about the Crown Vic or Mercury twin. There is a reason that the cops and taxis use them. Best of luck to you.

Too bad. lots of good parts left on that fine auto. Might be worth buying it back from the insurer and parting it if you have the storage space and some gumption.

Hello Hillbilly Delux, I also feel said about your accident, I guess you've had good experience with your E430, although it is not in a good shape right now, but at least you've experienced some benz's feeling.

So where is the car right now? The only damaged parts are suspension system, and pars of the frame. See if you can ship this car to mexico where the labor is cheaper and ship it back when the repair job is done.

Well, if you consider to parting out this car, can you sell the right morrior cover to me? I need a mirror cover which is identical to yours, sand silver color with LED light. You deicde the price ;-D

The car is at the COPART salvage auction in Tulsa, if any one needs a good engine trans/etc the bidding will be accessible through their website....

I put the old wheels and tires back on and have the three undamaged refinished wheels and new tires that were put on 1,200 miles ago, if any one wants to buy these let me know.

Replacement car: found a '03 Town Car w/ 60K for 7.5K. Long and short on replacement choice, I have zero income for the next year and a half to two years and couldn't afford even DIY maintenance on another Benz, and if anything failed I would be sunk...Long and short the LTC is a Ford, you can fix it with bailing wire and a hammer, just the right thing for now...This was not my first Mercedes (1st was 1990 420 SEL, sold it when it had 289,000 miles on it seven years ago and I still see it running around...) This E will always be my favorite, the last of the real Mercedes, even though some things had started to change it was still pure Mercedes through and through, not like the 2000-up S and C cars, and the W211 E where they began to lose that distinctive unmistakeable look and feel. Give me a couple years out of law school there will be more M-B's to come.
