Swapped out the original Airfilter boxes & installed the look alike K & N filters for testing ,these are only cheap at 24,95 $ eachplus $13 for each joint.
Once I see all goes like I want it to I get the real once or better .
You need a sleeve 3 inch by 3 inch joint or 76 MM,so measurements for the filter are 76MM so for the Joiner.
Also there is the need to make a bracket that holds one of the filters as it hangs there ,I haven't done that yet that's why the airpipe on the passenger side underneath .
Driving slowly there is no difference in engine sound but slightly tap the accelerator a bit more & the real beast sound of the V12 comes out of it now ,hit that pedal to much & you got the heads turning , I think it sounds just like an Aston Martin V12 with a bit of Lamborghini in between ,absolutely awesome sound .
When I drove the car for a test run ,the engines behaviour was perfectly normal ,no weird misfiring's or weird gear shifting's , just to mention this .:thumbsup:


BTW Joe : If you drive without the Airfilters on ,there is another filter just before the inlets ,small enough to catch mosquitos ,picture below.

Richard ,This setup will make you forget about the Ferrari's ,lol.

Every hour that you wait to do this ,its another boring hour of driving the quiet S600 of yours ,put some excitement into driving the car & go get the stuff to do it ,you wont be sorry I guarantee you that ,actually knowing you ,instead of driving 8000 miles in a few month you be doubling that with this , I only feel sorry for the other motorists on the road that you be overtaking scaring them ,lol.:thumbsup:

Those filters are not for me and THIS is why.

Chris, the honeycomb on the MAF is to stabilize the airflow past the sensor.
Yes I know that filter is not enough to catch dust but it's there good to catch a fly that gets past ,I found a cooked bee & 2 flys up that little filter,lol.
That link you posted yes it is a good informative page but if you go by that you will never get married never smoke never gamble always go to church never say a swear word & always be nice to your next person ,what they call that kind of person again " Straighty one eighty " or something like that ,strictly by the rules & obey the law ,No thanks ,not for me ,I'm more into action .
I did see a documentary about those K & N filters which are all about advertisement nothing more , only reason I mention them here is because they are popular ,I bought the SAACHS filters today ,pretty good so far .
You see it soon ,I did it for sound not to gain that extra horsepower crap people talk about ,don't need it what for .:thumbsup:

When I was installing them today my blonde wife asked what I was doing now to the car ,I said "I'm installing two Turbos " " aah ok " ,does that make the whistling noise " she asked " YEP " I replied ,when I took of with the car later on it did do a little whistling for a few seconds ,lol,

What kind of video would you like Eric ,I checked the footage from my speed cameras but the sound is not there ,not enough to post it ,when we go for the drive I get our cameraman Howard to make a good sound/video file .:thumbsup:.

LOL if you're into action let's see who's car is faster when we meet. :thumbsup:
I would never embarass your car you should know that ,I also would never risk this on a public road by risking the license or perhaps a freak accident ,to find out which one is faster of which I already know anyway ,we need to get to the Eastern creek racetrack.
Don't forget one thing or two , one mine is a short wheel base with less weight & 2nd , mine has the 1st generation M120 engine that has all the horsepower not like the later detuned M120'S ,another feature it has are the heigh flow petrol supply hoses plus a special module that by pressing a specific button it starts in 1st gear only , on top of all that there is another little secret that no one knows about yet .
Aha almost forgot to mention ,mine has special Airfilters as well,engine gets more air quicker, lol.
Think about it Joe ,I see your car as a very powerful V12 for now ,let's leave it at that ,we are equal ,lol. :thumbsup:

Chris & Joe - How can we amend this set up to catch dust as well; perhaps a screen filter at the back of he K & N?

Just ad Socks over the filters ,available in all sort of shapes & colours .There are also some real good looking carbon fibre black airfilters on ebay but because they are to cheap I think there is something not right with those .:thumbsup:

Don't forget to check the legality in your state country if these Pod filters are legal ,here they are not I just found out , unless they are secured into a box .:thumbsup:

Chris, not to be rude but all of those filters are junk, they all let a heap more dirt into the engine compared to a quality paper filter. Take note of the colour of you engine oil and watch how much quicker it gets dirty.

If you want the big induction sound without inhaling dirt, you can just cut open the standard airboxes before the air filters, being careful to retain the airboxes strength where they hold and seal the filters in place.

This is how she looks today ,Joe you were right all along .Never mess with a guy that knows Transmissions ,lol.
I didn't reconnect the two trumpets at the front next to the radiator yet to hear the difference ,Yes there is a slight difference with them off .
After I found out they were illegal to have I took all the filters off and reconverted back to original boring quiet sound ,lol. :thumbsup:

Chris, I just wanted to bring all of the information to the table. I actually make aftermarket performance car parts as my job, been doing it for over 10 years and am still learning. Also grew up on a huge farm working with those huge articulated tractors with 8 and 12 wheels. They all have massive dual stage paper element air filters, and could go for days at full power working in the dust before the primary filter blocked up. Try that with a K&N and you would probably wreck the engine within a day. Yes roads are much cleaner, but all sorts of road grime gets kicked up and has the potential to be inhaled into the engine.

In Australia uncovered pod filters are illegal for some technicality to do with the possibility of unburnt fuel coming out from the airfilter and igniting in a hot engine bay causing a fire. It's pretty much a redundant rule on todays fuel injected cars, but the rules are the rules and you can get a defect notice if a cop pulls you up and wants to look at your engine. In your case you could just outrun the cops.
